I can’t tell you how many times my trips have been saved due to a small travel purchase I made.
I used to be a very disorganized traveler and would spend a lot of time stressing.
Where will all of my charging cables go? What’s the best way to store my cosmetics?
It became overwhelming and I knew something had to be done.
I decided to open up my Amazon app (of course my first instinct was to shop 🤭), and peruse the many travel gadgets that would soon change the way I traveled forever.
And the great thing about these items is that they’re super affordable!
Like, I’m already planning a trip, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of extra money on something I wasn’t sure was going to work.
So, this is how I went about things.
I started off buying a couple of products for my future trip and quickly realized how much time and energy these things saved me.
Over the next few months (and years), I added more reasonably priced items to my travel arsenal, which got me to the point I’m at today.

10 Small Travel Purchases I Can’t Live Without
🛍️ Item 1: Electronics Case
My electronics case has been holding me down for YEARS now.
As a techie, I bring a lot of electronics with me when I travel – my phone, computer, camera(s), batteries, headphones, Nintendo Switch, etc.
So, as you can imagine, it was a nightmare trying to keep my thousands of cords, adapters, and chargers organized.
It was actually impossible, if I’m being honest.
I was so fed up of being bogged down with my gear that I finally got the idea of investing in an affordable, but sturdy, tech case.
And my life hasn’t been better!
I’m really mad it took me as long as it did to make this purchase.
If this sounds like you, go ahead and grab your case today and save yourself a massive headache.

🛍️ Item 2: Luggage Scale
You ever saw those frantic people at the airport whipping open their suitcase and taking out clothes, shoes, and God knows what else just so they can check a bag?
Yeah, that used to be me.
I was a chronic over-packer back in the day (like three years ago🌚), and there were so many instances where my luggage was over the weight limit.
I’ve since then purchased a luggage scale and my travel life got exponentially better.
I now know how much my suitcase weighs BEFORE leaving my house! Who woulda thought, right?
They’re so inexpensive and will take away so much stress that often comes with packing.
How did I ever live without this thing!?

🛍️ Item 3: Hanging Toiletry Bag
Now, this small travel purchase is a game changer.
And especially if you’re someone who typically has their makeup and cosmetics crowding the hotel bathroom counter.
Not only does this toiletry bag organize your stuff so you can easily find what you need, but you can HANG IT on the bathroom door so it doesn’t take up space!
I absolutely love using this bag on my travels, and I know you will, too.

🛍️ Item 4: Packing Cubes
Believe it or not, I used to be the biggest packing cube hater.
I thought they were bulky and unnecessary and that my folding method was all I needed.
And then I saw the light.
I decided to give them another shot because I did like the idea of having my clothes, etc. separated instead of everything being together in my suitcase.
These things are now a staple for every trip I go on.
If you’re not using packing cubes, this is your sign to start!

🛍️ Item 5: Reusable Water Bottle
It’s super important to stay hydrated when you’re traveling.
I used to have a bad habit of not drinking enough water and would end up feeling lethargic before I made it to baggage claim.
I now use a collapsible water bottle, and it’s saved my life (quite literally).
It stays in the side pouch of my travel backpack, so I always have it on hand.
I typically fill it up in one of the automated airport water fountains after going through TSA.
When I’m not using it, I just collapse it to save more space.
This is a small travel purchase you definitely need to grab.

🛍️ Item 6: Electric Water Kettle
As a big tea drinker–and even while on vacation–I had to invest in an affordable electric water kettle.
I don’t always feel like going to the hotel lobby every time I need hot water for my tea, so this little luxury was a great buy.
All you do is fill it with water, press the button, and within a minute or so, your hot water is waiting for you!

🛍️ Item 7: Pill Case
As a supplement girlie, having a small pill case for travel is crucially needed.
I have a big pill case, but it’s pretty clunky and takes up too much space in my suitcase.
With a mini pill case, I can fit only the supplements and medicine needed for the duration of my trip.

🛍️ Item 8: Mini Jewelry Case
Sick of your necklaces getting tangled up or losing earrings on vacation?
Same.
My cute little jewelry case has made all the difference in my trips.
There are multiple compartments that can hold a surprisingly large amount of your rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.
There’s even a mini mirror inside that lets you see how your jewelry looks after you put it on!

🛍️ Item 9: Apple AirTag
This small travel purchase gives me SO much peace of mind.
I’m sure you already know how much of a gamble it is checking your luggage.
You never know where it’s going to end up, if we’re being honest.
With an Apple AirTag, you always have your luggage’s location.
Even if your luggage doesn’t make it to your destination (knock on wood), you’ll still feel less anxious since you know where it ended up at.
After you set it up and put it in your suitcase, you’ll get an initial notification whenever it’s not in your vicinity.
Then, you’ll get a few more alerts throughout the duration of your travels.
You can also sound the alarm on your Apple AirTag to help locate your luggage if it’s nearby.
This is something every traveler needs.

🛍️ Item 10: Portable Steamer
Yes, I was one of those people who used to iron their outfits while on vacation. 🌚
Nowadays, I skip the hotel iron altogether and just bring my travel steamer.
This small purchase will make your clothes look like they just came from the cleaners.
Crisp, wrinkle-free, and you don’t have to worry about burning yourself with a hot iron!
It’ll easily fit in your carry-on or checked luggage without taking up a lot of space.
