1. Change your alarm clock sound
If you have an iPhone, then you know how annoying the standard wake up alarm is.
Having a loud blaring noise waking you up can sometimes start your entire day off wrong.
I recommend going through your phone settings and changing your alarm sound to something more peaceful.
You can even upload your own sounds or songs if you choose to.
You’ll be less likely to hit the snooze button if you have a calming alarm to wake you up in the mornings.
2. Get some journaling in
If you’re someone who reaches for your phone to scroll through social media the first thing in the morning, try swapping that with journaling instead.
A great way to have a more peaceful start to your day is by writing all of your thoughts and feelings in a journal.
What is your mental state this morning?
What do you wish to accomplish today?
Is there something you’re excited about?
I typically journal in the mornings because it’s quiet and I have the chance to be still and express myself uninterrupted.
This is the time where I write in both my manifestation and “regular” journals.
You don’t need to have both types of journal for your winter routine, but I highly recommend using one or the other.

3. Do a morning meditation
Meditations are great for setting your intentions for the day.
Your morning has the power to unfold a lot more peacefully once you consciously decide how you’ll navigate the day.
This amazing practice forces you to slow down and check in with yourself.
What energy do you want to exude in the world around you today?
What areas of your life will you extend grace to?
You can even bring your meditation practice to the next level by adding some relaxing essential oils to your diffuser beforehand.
Start your winter morning routine off with a calming meditation and watch how smoothly the rest of the day goes for you.

4. Tidy up your space
A cluttered, junky space can have negative effects on your mental health.
Taking just 20 minutes in the morning to tidy up your living space can do wonders for your mood and energy levels.
It could be something as simple as throwing your dishes in the dishwasher or folding and putting away the clothes piling up in your chair (note to self).
As someone with a very low clutter threshold, any time I feel stressed or anxious in the mornings, it’s usually linked to an untidy space.
And once I do one of my “speed cleans”, I instantly feel better.
Try this tip for yourself and watch your morning transform!
5. Get hydrated
I’ll be real with you and admit that I’m terrible at drinking water when I first wake up.
But think about it–most of us are sleeping anywhere from 6 to 8 hours each night, so naturally, our bodies will be dehydrated when we wake up.
Try making a habit of drinking a full glass of water as soon as you get up from bed.
If it’s something you usually forget to do, keep a glass of water on your nightstand so it’s the first thing you see in the morning.
Low energy, headaches, and fatigue are linked to dehydration, so do yourself a favor and drink up!
6. Move your body
Whether you’re a Pilates Princess, a Couch-to-5K Girlie, or anything in between, it’s essential that you get your body moving in the morning.
You don’t have to do an intense workout to reap the benefits, either.
Something as simple as stretching, dancing to your favorite song, or doing a quick yoga session on YouTube can do the trick.
As you get older, your muscles and joints will inevitably become stiffer, so a good way to combat this is by adding in daily movement.
I know it can be hard getting out of your warm, comfy bed in the morning to do a workout, but it’ll 10x your winter routine!
7. Cook a nourishing meal
This is the time of year where warm, nourishing foods will be your best friend.
Spinach omelets, vegetable quiches, oatmeal with blueberries and granola, and the list goes on!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and plays a huge role in your energy levels, so make time to cook something nice in the mornings.
Also, ramp up your Vitamin D intake during your mealtime with foods like salmon, tuna, or mushrooms.
Have fun experimenting in the kitchen and see what you can create!
8. Opt for tea instead of coffee
Pumpkin spice lattes and salted caramel espressos are probably high on your list of things to drink right now.
However, give your winter routine a boost by replacing your cup of coffee with a soothing, caffeine-free herbal tea.
Herbal teas, like peppermint, chamomile, and hibiscus, are a healthier alternative to caffeinated drinks.
They can lower your blood pressure, cholesterol, and stress levels, making your mornings more peaceful.
Get ready to kiss caffeine jitters goodbye!
9. Have a relaxing shower routine
Nothing says peaceful morning like a calming shower routine.
Stepping in the shower and feeling the warm water hit your body is an experience like no other!
Winter time is usually when your skin gets dryer, so now’s a great time to bring out your favorite products with richer formulas to hydrate your skin.
For a good winter skincare routine, use a moisturizing body wash and lotion, a gentle cleanser, and hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C for a healthy skin barrier.
Also, test different products until you find one that works best for you.
Give yourself a mini spa day in the mornings. It only takes about 20 minutes, and you deserve it.
Take a look at some of the best skincare products that I swear by.
10. Do something that makes you happy
Most of our daily lives are busy and don’t leave us with much time to just have fun and do whatever our heart desires.
A great way to have a peaceful, fulfilling morning is by doing something that makes you happy.
This can look like several things–learning a foreign language, working on a craft project, or taking a trip to the farmers’ market.
Whatever lights you up on the inside, make a little time to do it in the mornings.
You’ll go through your day feeling so joyful and content with your life.
11. Improve your sleep the night before
Not everyone is a morning person, and that’s ok.
But what isn’t ok is not getting adequate sleep then waking up the next day feeling like crap.
If you want to wake up refreshed in the morning, your nighttime routine is nonnegotiable.
Using electronics, drinking caffeine, and not having a proper nighttime routine can really damage your sleep quality.
Our circadian rhythms are pretty sensitive and need to be in balance if you want good sleep. See this article by Sleep Foundation to learn how to improve your sleep hygiene.

12. Go on a nature walk
Most of us don’t get many sunny days during the winter season, but it’s still important to get outdoors for a bit.
I know it’s hard during low temperatures, but I recommend going on a morning walk and surrounding yourself with the beauty of Mother Nature.
Feel the cool breeze on your face, hear the twigs snap underneath your feet, and soak up as much Vitamin D from the sun that you can.
Being in nature is very grounding, and it’s a great way to improve your winter morning routine.
13. Wear an outfit you feel good in
Sometimes it’s tough putting together a cute outfit on those cold winter mornings.
You just want to grab your thickest coat, put on a scarf and gloves, and call it a day.
But what about taking an extra 5-10 minutes in the morning and putting together an outfit that you feel good about?
It’s 100% possible to look and feel good in your clothes, while still being functional.
A great way to get ahead of your morning routine is by planning your outfits the night before. This also takes out any stress that comes with getting dressed in the mornings!
I hope this winter routine helps you have a peaceful morning from here on out.
Good habits can take a few weeks to form, so don’t be too hard on yourself.
Once you find the perfect routine that works for you, your mornings will feel less stressful and more harmonious.
Peace, love, and good vibrations.
