If you’re constantly reaching for your phone every chance you get, you NEED to read this!

I get that we live in a digital world, and MUCH of our lives are on these tiny mobile devices, but it can sometimes get to a point where it begins to run your life.

I’ve made a list of 6 things you can start doing each day to detach from your cell phone.

You’ll feel much better once you start living in the present moment and resist that urge to scroll through social media or check your text messages.

1. Download the Freedom app

If you’ve never heard of the Freedom app, trust me when I say it’s a God-send.

You download this little app to your mobile device (and even your computer), and it sets up temporary “blocks” to websites or other apps that you frequent.

If you’re someone who tends to get distracted while using your phone, this app will keep you on track.

I highly recommend it, AND you can try it free for a week!

2. Read a book

When was the last time you sat down and read a book? (Don’t worry, this is a judgment-free zone).

Life can get busy, and it’s very easy to pick up your phone and scroll when you want to unwind.

However, I challenge you to read a book instead! Do you have a book that you’ve meant to read but never seem to have the time for?

I recommend taking out 20-30 minutes each day and dedicating that time to reading a good book.

Get lost in the pages and let your imagination soar as you take a break from your cell phone.

3. Spend time outdoors

Nothing makes you forget about your phone more than spending a little time outdoors.

Whether you want to go on a picnic in the park with a significant other or go on a hike with friends, your mind and body will thank you.

You’ll be surprised at how great you’ll feel after spending a minimum of 30 minutes outdoors!

What are some outdoor activities that you love doing?

4. Learn a new language

A great way to reduce the time spent on your phone is by learning a new language.

Nothing gets your brain juices flowing like learning the language of a culture different from your own.

I’m currently learning French and Swahili, and it’s been very helpful in keeping me away from my phone.

If you would like to learn a new language, I recommend Pimsleur 100 times over!

I’ve been using this platform for almost two years now, and it makes the language learning process fun and effective!

5. Hang out with a friend

Are you looking for another easy fix to limit your cell phone use? Grab your friends and go do something fun!

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats personal connections!

If you have friends in the area, you all could go out for lunch or take a road trip one weekend. If you don’t live close to your friends, you can always opt for a virtual call via Facetime, Zoom, or Google Meets.

When I’m with my friends, we have so much fun that I rarely think about using my phone.

6. Have a self-care day

Taking a day off for yourself may be just the thing you need to detach from your phone.

I am a stickler for self-care and can’t recommend it enough.

Whenever you feel the urge to aimlessly scroll through your phone or get lost on the multiple social media apps at your fingertips, do a self-care routine for yourself instead.

There are many ways that you can practice self-care, such as:

1. Taking a bubble bath

2. Painting your nails

3. Attending a paint and sip class

4. Ordering a tasty meal at a nice restaurant

5. Watching your favorite movie

Find something that you enjoy doing and put your phone on DND for a few hours.

You don’t have to be a slave to your phone. There are other fulfilling things that you can do to give your fingers a break. How will you detach from your phone today?

Peace, love, and good vibrations.
