Autumn is in the air, so it’s the perfect time for a cozy fall reset ritual at home.

This is the time of year when you can finally slow down and take a moment to recharge your mind, body, and soul.

In other words, hit the reset button.

The fall equinox signifies a season of change and rebirth.

Amongst the colorful leaves, crisp air, and weather changes, there is a new energy that surrounds the season.

An energy that elicits simpler routines and new habits.

So, why not embrace this season shift and create some self-care practices for yourself?

I’m an introvert, so these reset routines are non-negotiable for me.

The outside world is a very exhausting place, so it’s nice to have an entire day to myself from time to time to focus on comfort and creativity.

I get to fall into the natural rhythms of a slower life and mark the end of summer in a beautiful way.

It’s also a good excuse to lay around for however long I choose and sip on pumpkin spice lattes.

Whether you’re an introvert or not, this fall reset ritual will make you feel like the best version of yourself.

Get ready to give yourself a fresh start and embrace these times of transition.

🔆 Morning: A Gentle Start

cozy bed with brown sheets and an orange comforter

Whatever time you choose to wake up in the morning is completely up to you.

I bet you didn’t see that coming, huh?

Take comfort in knowing there’s no ideal time that you have to get out of bed.

This is not one of those rigid reset rituals where you have to wake up at 5 am and do nine million things before breakfast.

That kinda defeats the purpose of having a gentle start to your morning routine.

Instead, wake up when your body tells you to.

I would even go as far as saying don’t set your alarm the night before if you don’t have to.

Give yourself permission to lay under your warm covers and just bask in the quietness of your bedroom.

P.S. I’m writing this blog from the comfort of my bed. 🤫

Then when you’re ready, start your day with ease and intention.

I’ve listed some ideas below for you to try out.

Intentional Morning Rituals:

  • Light a candle to set a relaxing mood
  • Sip on a warm cup of herbal tea or coffee
  • Play a calming fall-inspired playlist
  • Have a moment of mindfulness by journaling
  • Wake up your body with a stretching session
  • Spend some time meditating and clearing your thoughts
  • Prepare a nourishing breakfast using fresh ingredients
  • Burn palo santo to get rid of negative, stagnant energy
  • Pick out your OOTD (soft, cozy layers are perfect for fall)

🍁 Midday: Refuel and Create

By the time noon approaches, your energy levels should be pretty high.

So, this is a wonderful time to channel all that energy into a nourishing midday or afternoon meal.

The cooler months of the autumn season call for comfort food, so I like to make hearty soups or a savory chili.

There are so many delicious seasonal options for you to choose from, so scroll through Pinterest to find something that looks appetizing.

There’s also nothing wrong with heating a can of something on the stove! Make this easy for you.

If I’m feeling tired after lunch, I’ll typically saunter back to my room (or the couch) for a midday nap.

Talk about relaxing! 😌

Now, let’s get into some creativity.

To make the most of my fall reset routine, I end out the afternoon doing a fun activity. Just a little something to get my creative juices flowing.

Creativity will help you feel grounded, and it keeps you inspired.

So, whatever activity brings you joy, now is the perfect time to do it.

Take a look below at some creative ways you can get in a few moments of mindfulness.

Creative Exploration:

  • Grab your brushes and paint a beautiful autumn scenery
  • Bake a delicious dessert to enjoy after your lunch
  • Take in the crisp fall air on a walk around your neighborhood
  • Work on a crafting project, like crocheting or jewelry making
  • Write a poem or short story about seasonal changes
  • Create a vision board for your personal goals and aspirations

🍂 Late Afternoon: A Seasonal Check-In

Another great way to make your fall reset feel intentional is by pausing for a quick check-in with yourself.

As the days get shorter, it’s easy to lose track of time, so use this moment to reflect on how you’re truly feeling.

Ask yourself: What’s working for me right now? What do I need less of? What do I want more of this season?

Just voicing these things out loud can bring a sense of clarity and direction.

This little hack ensures your reset day doesn’t just feel cozy in the moment. Rather, it also supports you long-term.

Give it a try and see how you feel!

🧺 Evening: Winding Down

Now that your day’s coming to an end, take your time to slowly unwind and end things with a clear intention.

This is a usually a great time to have dinner or a light snack if you’re not too hungry.

And if you have leftovers from lunch, even better! One less thing you have to do.

Next, I like do a quick tidy up in my home, also known as my “speed cleans.”

Having a clean space does wonders for your mental health and sets the tone for the rest of the evening.

My speed cleans last around 20 minutes and commonly include the following tasks:

  • Putting items back in their original places
  • Washing and putting away dishes
  • Folding any clothes that may be in the dryer
  • Preparing my clothes for the next day

After you’ve done a mini reset of your living space, you’ll instantly notice the positive energy radiating from your home.

Evening Ease:

  • Dim the lights and turn on a relaxing playlist
  • Add your favorite essential oils to a diffuser and zen out

  • Watch your favorite Halloween movie and sip some hot cocoa
  • Lie down and take some deep breaths for 5-10 minutes
